Alexis P.O.V

I hug my mom tightly as she cries on my shoulder. I pull away from her grasp and examine her face, tears running down her rosy red cheeks, and the wind slightly blowing her bronze hair.

"Mom, it's okay," I giggle , fixing my t-shirt. "I'm only going be, like an hour away."

"I know honey, it's not that," Sshe says, wiping her tears from her forest green eyes. "It's just that I'm so proud of you. You've grown up to be my smart, beautiful little Lexi."

"Thanks, mom,." I hug her once more time before I get in the car with my best friend, Ryan. She put the last suit case in the trunk and got into the driver's side of the vehicle. Ever since she got her car in the tenth grade, we've talked about this day: us, driving to our college campus together.

"Bye, Ms. Mobley!", Ryan yells out the passenger window where I'm sitting.

"Bye Ryan!", Mmy mom replies. I give my mom one last wave as Ryan backs out of the drive thru, speeding off, the radio blasting.

I smile to myself ,. I never thought I'd actually come to this.; Mme going to college was such a surprise to me and my family. Not because they didn't believe in me or anything, but only because I came from a poor family.

They could never afford for me to go to college. The only way I got in is because I received a scholarship from a scout that unexpectedly popped up at my GT art class in twelfth grade.

I was snapped out of my thoughts when Ryan began speaking.

"I am so pumped!", Sshe exclaimed, slightly jumping in her seat with a crazy grin on her face.

I laughed. "I know, right.? We have dreamed of this day since we were in middle school," I replied.

Ryan's curly, dark brown hair blew in the wind, slapping against her caramel skin.

She groans in annoyance , then rolls up the window. "You know they're having a senior welcome party tonight ! We are definitely going"."

I roll my eyes. "You mean you're definitely going?". She sends me a side-ways glance.
