In several occasions, volunteers come in and leave whenever they desire to do so since there is no signing sheet or check in/out system to keep track of their hours. I observed many new students are waiting in queue, up to one hour since there are not enough Peer Mentors to assist them during their check in process. I believe it is mainly because of not having an effective volunteer scheduling system and supervision and management techniques. However, in my management courses, I was taught about the Queuing Theory and Employee scheduling. These management skills that I have learned at Whitman School of Management have helped me a lot to deal with issues such as to prioritize the work, work under pressure, and completing the work on time.

I am happy to talk with you to discuss more about coming up with a volunteer scheduling system, which will ultimately, solves the problems unnecessary queuing during the check in process. It will be improvement to the service that Slutzker Center has already have and could be a positive experience to new incoming students.
