As described in my personal statement, my plan is to pursue a career in academic medicine. I am most attracted to Jacobi internal medicine program because of its long tradition of strong research. After residency, I would like to get further research training through a fellowship program.

Even though it is difficult to make a definite decision, I am currently leaning toward the field of Endocrinology. The way different hormones work together to maintain perfect balances in multiple organ systems amazed me during medical years. I decided to participate in a research study to understand actions of fibroblast growth factor-21 in pregnant and lactating women.

From previous research experiences in basic and clinical sciences, I learned how to organize thoughts, think critically, and convey ideas in a clear and concise manner. I would like to stay in academia to find out new ways to improve patient care through clinical research.
