The team met for the first time on April 4, 2016. The team leader, Rick, established our goal; to research increases in employee absenteeism and recommend possible solutions. The team wants to answer these questions:
1. When did the absenteeism problem start?
2. What is the cost to the company by dept.?
3. What isare the demographics of our company (men/womaen; age categories)?
4. What are the statistics for the reasons: sick children, sick employees, job-related accidents, etc?
5. What is the company morale?
We brainstorm about questions and issues that might be associated with the increased absenteeism and determined that we needed more info. We decided to develop a questionnaire for all employees. We need someone on the team who understands questionnaire research better than the current team member. We also assigned responsibilities and developed a timeline.
Responsibilities:
• Kathy works in the business office, so she will track down costs.
• Rick works in personanel, so he will examine the past trends in absenteeism.
• Estela is good with data, so she will make sense of the datea once ithey comes in.
• Michel knows how to put a survey online and will help with managing the questionnaire.
• We will ask Joe to help us with the questionnaire since he has done some before.
Timeline:
• Questionnaire development--three weeks
• Questionnaire dissemination--one month
• Information analysis--two weeks
• Historical research--two weeks
• Determination of associated costs--three weeks
