The art piece that I chose to accompany my original poem is titled, Proud Lion“Proud Lion”. This piece was created by Brewer Arts. The image that I chose to compliment this poem is an image of a lion with his chest puffed up and his head held high. The picture of the lion is in black and white. These colors compliment the poem’s style, tone, and content because there is simplicity in the poem. Black and white are the simplest of colors. The full story is not told when in black and white. Black and white are bold, blaring colors. The two colors are set in stone. The boy in the poem views everything as black and white. He does not realize the value of the money; instead, he sees things as they appear. These colors resemble this poem primarily because they reflect the boy’s actions and thoughts. Moving forward, the artist’s style of drawing compliments this poem because of the way he sketches animals. He draws the animals as statues, mainly drawn in black and white. Many of the animals in his art pieces portray a characteristic in that animal.
