It is safe to say that engaging with art in my last year of school has significantly shaped my whole personality. I am usually good with words, but to describe the feeling that comes with looking at a blank canvas or an unmoldedtouching a not yet molded piece of clay is something that I am always at a loss with. Before discovering my ability to express such emotions, I always felt at a loss in personal circumstances. Being givenHaving the power of givingto give such a versatile object itsobjects their final shape led me to take control of unfamiliar situations. Moreover, I had the power to transport the observerobservers to the same fields, mountains, or statestates of mind that I was present in, while they were still beingvery much physically rootedpresent in their own bodies. What made the scenario an even better isone , was to have that power and see the beauty in it, especially to see thesee art in everything. In the process, I became acquainted with new artists. Consequently, I experienced feelings that I was previouslynot unfamiliar towith, and I was in a position to communicate with the artistartists in a completelypreviously unimaginable manner. In one of my favorite books, I’ll Give You the Sun, Jandy Nelson describes the feeling in a truly accurate mannerway. She says, “We wish with our hands, that's what we do as artists.”. An artistArtists and their art have a personal relationship that is almost incomprehensible by any otherto anyone else. Art is my medium to bring something new into this world, my toolmedium of expression. It has taught me to be more empathetic towards others and towards myself. More importantly, I have understood the paramount importance of suspending all judgment and increaseincreasing my curiosity of knowingto know the what'what' and why'why' behind everything.
