What are the differences in voting based on socioeconomic status,
&and what factors drive those differences?

Voting is a process for a country to make a collective decision and express an opinion using election campaigns. It is fundamental in any democracy, but in the United States, voting rights have been largely contentious as the constitution does not stipulate those towho can vote; therefore, leavingit leaves it up to the states to decide the question for themselves. Citizens of the United States can be divided into five socioeconomic statuses;: upper, upper-middle, middle, working, and lower class. Each status is distinguished from the other by the amount of income received. Each of these groups living in the United States has different restrictions imposed upon their voting rights, thereby inadvertently complicatecomplicating and reducing voter turnout. The voting differences in the United States are highlighted and brought out by the socioeconomic status of the country’s diverse citizenscitizenry, as well as by political and personal factors that contribute.
An individual’s vote for a candidate is usually based on his or hersher political and social values. The individual’s values are often influenced by their socioeconomic status in society due to a multitude of factors. If a man is severely sick and of a lower economic class, he may vote for an individual who will give him access to healthcare and solutions to poverty within the nation. Persons of a higher economic background may vote for someone who will createlegislate lower taxes and free-market capitalism (Liu, n. pag). There are also significant differences in complexity within different races living in the country whereby people tend to migrate towards people of their same race and vote for individuals they feel are representations of themselves. Intersectionality is another factor that can influence a person’s vote,: being a minority with low socioeconomic status, you may be more inclined to vote for someone with more socialist basedsocialist-based leanings.
