Do you like or dislike group work? When you hear ‘Group-Work’ do you moan or roll your eyes? Or do you feel at ease since you share the responsibility for work, and talk to other people at the same time? Group-Work can help students develop a host of skills that are increasingly important in the professional world (Caruso & Woolley, 2008; Mannix & Neale, 2005). Positive group experiences have been shown to contribute to studentsstudents' learning, retention and overall college success (Astin, 1997; Tinto, 1998; National Survey of Student Engagement, 2006). However, without careful planning and facilitation, Group-Work can lead to frustration towards members of the learning environments and beyond. Group-Work is defined according to Carnevaale (2003-2018) as the result of action from physical or mental efforts made together. Working in a group is a skill that is not only useful to master to use in classrooms, but also because it is also a skill used in society.
