In the story, the reason towardsbehind God’s choice to “cleanse the earth” with the flood was becauseis the corruption in the world was corrupted and people “arebeing "forbidden to do evil” (Hawkswell). LikeAs we see, God punishes the people for sinning by bringing about a flood. However, God allowedallows Noah to live because “Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD” (KJVGen6:8). It wasis depicted in the bibleBible that Noah wasis a preacher who pleadedpleads for others to repent their sins and to find refuge in the Lord. Noah wasis not seen as sinless but rather as faithful, and that is why God had savedGod saves him. Water, likeas seen in the world, cleans people, and it washes away the dirt. In a way, the flood is “cleaning” the sins and evilnessevil that humans hadhave brought upon the earth. Noah’s ark seems to represent a powerful message about judgment as well as grace. As we see through the story, God had judgedjudges the people: “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (ESVGen6:5). God wasis displeased bywith their sins. As God tries to heal the earth from impurity, he brings about rain “that lasted for forty days and nights, causing the flood” (A summarySummary and Analysis of the Biblical Story of the Flood and Noah’s Ark). God had useduses the flood to create grace. Through this flood, God carries Noah’s family with protection to start afresh in a world returned to innocence. Now there is a new beginning and a chance for a better end.
