Dear Mr Cox,

As you and I know, cars are a great way of getting to and fro,
going from place to place for going to see family, gettinggo shopping, or going to the hospital when needsneed be. But, Mr Cox, I’m sure you also know the dangers of themhow dangerous they are. These 4 ton4-tonne machines can be deadly if used incorrectly. Young male drivers account for 80% of young driverdrivers fatalities.

Young male drivers are four times more likely to be seriously injured or killed on the road than drivers aged 21 or over. This shows that
while the young people are now of the age toof age who are legally allowed to drive, it doesn't mean that they are indon't necessarily have the mindset of an adult.

It doesn’t matter how smart teens are or how well they scored on the SAT or ACT. Good judgement isn’t something they can excel in, at least not yet. The rational part of a teen’s brain isn’t fully developed and won’t be until
they reach the age of 21 or so.

In fact, recent research has found that adult and teen brains work differently. Adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the brain’s rational part. This is the part of the brain that responds to situations with good judgement and an awareness of long-term consequences. Teens process information with the amygdala
. This is, the emotional part.

In teens' brains, the connections between the emotional part of the brain and the decision-making centre are still developing
and, not always at the same rate. That’s why when teens have overwhelming emotional input, they can’t explain later what they were thinking. They weren’t thinking as much as they were feeling.

The teenagers hasTeenagers have not fully developed, meaning that they are more prone to be manipulated in their actions with peer-pressureby peer pressure. Peer-pressurePeer pressure is how ifwhen a person is emotionally affected by how others feel about them, meansmeaning that they canmight do what other teenagers around them want them to do, or they feel like they have to do ‘cool things’ around them to feel ‘cool’.

But on the road
, this means thatmay lead to dangerous accidents have occurred if it takes place, seriously injuring someone for life or outright killing them. This is why I ask you, Mr Cox, if weto raise the minimum age limit for driving to a minimum of 21 will meanor over, so that roads can have a greater percentage of safety on the road, and this isbe safer; this also includes the motorcyclemotorcycles, as you only need to be the age16 to be able of 16 to gainget a licence for itto drive them, which is even worse, whereas this- it would be greaterbetter if it would bethe minimum age were raised to at least 20.
