As a solution, Dr. Friedman recommended the exposure to the light therapy in the morning, for twenty or thirty minutes. Basically, this treatment tells your brain that light is up. Besides, it is cheaper, with lowless side effects than the antidepressant pills. He explains, that normal people, who do not have seasonal affective disorder, produce more melatonin all year. Only a small group of people in Asia suffer from depression in summer. Dr. Friedman mentioned the beach as a evidence to improve seasonal depression.
